Issue 1 — Inventory có thực sự không cần write-down?

“X5021… over two years old… no sales of this part for at least one year”, “not material”, “total inventories balance is material “, “unsure if other data…is accurate”

• Inventory (IAS 2)
• FC kết luận “no write-down”. Nhưng X5021 đã cũ hơn 2 năm và không bán được, nên theo IAS 2, hàng tồn kho phải được hạch toán theo giá trị thấp hơn giữa cost và NRV. Vì vậy X5021 có thể phải được write-down, và khoản lỗ được ghi vào operating category của SOPL.
• Ngược lại, X5021 có thể không cần write-down nếu đây là spare parts mà công ty còn bán được với giá cao hơn giá gốc trong tương lai. Ta cần thêm thông tin để kết luận.
• Materiality: theo IFRS Practice Statement 2, lỗi immaterial không bắt buộc phải điều chỉnh, nhưng điều chỉnh sẽ giúp giảm rủi ro các lỗi immaterial cộng dồn thành material. Sai phạm của khoản mục X5021 immaterial nhưng total inventory material (30% PBT) => Further investigation required.

Issue 2 — FA muốn “job permanent”, mà FC nắm quyền tuyển dụng

“The FA wishes to apply for a permanent role”,”FC is responsible for all employment decisions”

FA cần job, FC nắm quyền cho job => FA ngại lên tiếng -> Self-interest threat -> Action: FA should urge the FC to investigate the issue to see if write-down is required. Nếu khó nói với FC thì báo lên cho Director.

Issue 3 — FC có bonus scheme, và đáng lẽ phải biết vấn đề của X5021

“The FC is part of Tacoco’s manager bonus scheme”, ” a substantial bonus if reported profits increase”, “were both part of a recent meeting…”, “No written notes”

FC dự cuộc họp nên đáng lẽ biết X5021 ngừng sản xuất/bán. Hai khả năng:

(a) chỉ là quên, vì không lưu sổ sách/ghi chú => vi phạm professional competence;

(b) cố tình lờ đi => thiếu integrity.

Thêm vào đó, bonus theo profit tạo self-interest threat (write-down làm giảm profit => giảm bonus) => Action: FC should investigate and write down the inventory if required
